Cartoon Development 2007 - 2011

After arriving in Los Angeles to work as an animator, I made a short film (in my free time) about a foul mouthed, wise cracking stoat named Benny. I began working with my old friend and writing partner, Ryan Levin. Together we developed the idea and sold it to Atom films, who had recently been purchased by Comedy Central.
That began a run of television development work, where I wrote, animated and developed ideas for the networks and pitched them. In the deals that went, I was "paid" to imagine the ideas from the script to an animated short. It was gruelling work, but I created a work methodology and animation pipeline.
I eventually let the pursuit go in 2011 to concentrate on game development.
Below are some select projects, starting with Benny: Escaped Convict, which is still a favorite of mine.

Benny: Escaped Convict - 2008

Benny: Escaped Convict was written and produced by myself and Ryan Levin. Benny was voiced by Rob Beckwith, music by Jen Kes Remmington. I animated it in Flash and After Effects. The total series ran about 13 minutes.

Madhouse - 2010

This was a project that was developed for Fox Inkubation television. Ryan Levin and I, after finishing Benny, went into Fox with an idea for a family of geniuses called "The Welshes."
Hungry for more family animation, they bought the idea, but wound up steering it in a different direction.
I built out an entirely new pipeline, directed a team, and learned a lot about project management. Despite the technical successes, I felt the content suffered from the develoment process.
Below is a clip from the 3rd episode of the series.

These were ideas that were partially developed, but never went anywhere.
